Lighting Study of a 33kV Switchroom
A lighting study was conducted for the internal and external areas of the 33kV switchroom, using the DiaLux Evo software, covering both emergency lighting and escape routes in compliance with AS/NZS 3000:2018 (Electrical Installations – Wiring Rules) and the client’s internal specification.
The purpose of the study is to ensure compliance with applicable standards while using a minimal number of products, aiming to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs for the proposed system.
To meet the application’s requirements, both technical and aesthetic aspects were considered, ensuring that each environment provides:
- The necessary light intensity, as per AS/NZS 1680.1:2006 (Interior and Workplace Lighting);
- The appropriate colour temperature for each area;
- The best-performing luminaires;
- A strategic placement of light points;
- High energy efficiency;
- Easy maintenance access.
Additionally, the study included emergency lighting and escape routes, ensuring compliance with AS 2293.1:2018 (Emergency Escape Lighting and Exit Signs for Buildings), guaranteeing occupant safety in emergency situations.
The goal was to follow the guidelines of the mentioned standards, delivering an efficient, safe, and easily maintainable lighting system.
